During the rolling process, the silo wall undercut a spiral convex strip of 30mm-40mm, which is 5 times thicker of the material, it helps improve load capacity and stability of silo. During the construction process, coil sheet of 495mm in width is shaped through the shaping machine, bent by the bending machine. Coil material can be galvanized, stainless steel plate, black plate etc. The thickness of Material could between 1.5-4.0mm. Steel silo generally consists three parts: Silo roof, Silo body and Cone.

Steel Silo Instructions

• The steel silo must be approved by the relevant departments in accordance with the relevant standards for the first loading.
• In order to avoid uneven subsidence of foundation, initial feeding should be carried out in strict accordance with the design requirements and instructions. (Should pay attention to loading height,loading sequence and static duration control)
• When loading the material, users should strictly control the various indicators of the materials in the national security range, and regular testing, to prevent mildew grain crops.
• Each silo should be uniform used for silo group, so as to avoid the excessive use for single silo.
• Eccentric loading and unloading should be avoid during loading and unloading process.
• If silo is designed with a several of discharge holes, it is also should be discharged from the center hole first. After the material is generally clear up, except dead angles, open the eccentric holes for completely discharging.
• During normal use, steel silo should be cleared up periodically, especially for the first discharging. So that works for internal inspection could be carried out smoothly, thus to avoiding grain or material in the silo dead corner be stored too long.

Repair and Maintenance for Steel Silo

• In the course of serving, steel silo should be maintained and repaired regular.
• Maintenance and repair for roof
  1. To maintain the platform every year to prevent the feeding hole, platform board, waterproof ring from leak, the appearance of component rust etc, thus rust could be processed in time.
  2. To check regularly to make sure the platform is in good condition，and the fastening bolt is loose.
  3. To check the outside surface of auxiliary hole corrosion and leak situation regularly (including ventilation hole, manhole, temperature measuring hole, seat, etc).
  4. To inspect the seam of the platform regularly for the overall welding platform, according to the inspection situation to determine the necessary anti-corrosion treatment.
• Repair and maintenance for silo body
  1. To observation the perpendicularity of steel silo twice a year, as well as each time of silo filling up or clearing up, should also be observed. Also check whether the wall is deformation, corridor outrigger and other sensitive parts should be careful observation， and archive the inspection record.
  2. To check silo wall corrosion situation every year, according to the inspection of the silo wall for anti-corrosion treatment.
  3. To check the corrosion of the silo wall every year for anti-corrosion treatment, if the silo body is build by black plate, according to the inspection of the silo wall.
  4. Every time after the silo is cleared up, the silo should be checked completely，whether the silo door seal good, whether there is a crack in the steel plate around the door.
  5. Every time after the silo is cleared up, connections between the stiffener and the silo wall should be inspected.
• Every time after the silo is cleared up, rooting position of the cone should be checked according to the inspection of the cone for anti-corrosion or other treatment.
• Mounting bolt of the vertical ladder should be maintained every year, as well as whether the material is in good condition, according to the inspection.

Other Considerations for Steel Silo

• Steel silo should be  managed by professionals.
• It is prohibited to climb up by the undercut of steel silo.
• According to relevant storage standard, steel silo should checked regularly during it’s serving time on the internal material's temperature and humidity. Depending on the nature of the material and the storage time, necessary preventive measures (such as cooling, storehouse changing etc) should be carried out to ensure safe storage of all types of materials.
• It is strictly prohibited to add additional facilities and loads on the steel silo without authorization.
• To prevent dust explosion when conducting fire work inside steel silo.
• Paying high attention to inspection on transportation equipment, valve and other facilities’ tightness, as well as rainproof check of the connecting parts of steel silo to prevent rainwater from leaking into the silo deteriorate the inter material.
