File:Jaden Smith 2018.png has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:Payphonesonthewall-southkorea-seoul-2019-7-24.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

File:Canis lupus hodophilax skull
[edit]We appreciate you supplying this image. It is now used at the Japanese wolf article on the English Wikipedia. I have added a reference to your pix. Could you advise me if the signage around the skull actually said Canis lupus hodophilax - the timing of this skull at 36,000 years ago appears to pre-date the arrival/development of that subspecies in Japan. Regards, William Harris (talk) 23:51, 13 March 2021 (UTC)
- I am no expert on wolves, and I took the picture to share for it's skull value and wasn't caring about signage... so I can't even confirm the title is for that skull or something else. (The Japanese simply reads "From Tochigi Prefecture, Kuzu [area]" but doesn't specify what it is talking about, and I don't remember. The website for the skull is here, but it doesn't have any specific dates I believe, but if you are curious: https://www.rekihaku.ac.jp/outline/publication/rekihaku/195/witness.html Does this help? Cheers, Nesnad (talk) 07:17, 14 March 2021 (UTC)
- Oh wait, I didn't read carefully, at the bottom it talks about ages of a skull (in regards to the age of the Jomon era and I guess to this same skull by extension I believe?) and it says "37,000 and 11,000 years ago" (in section three if you are curious) so it seems to be less solid than the label if that matters. Cheers, Nesnad (talk) 07:28, 14 March 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for this; I did not notice the info at the bottom, which states "A-636-1-1-19-1 (Opening photo) are about 36,000 to 33,000 years ago." So I shall run with that. That is a little early for when the Japanese wolf is thought to have migrated to Japan (just less than 20,000 years ago during the Last Glacial Maximum), however I am sure it will only be a matter of time before someone runs a DNA sequence on it, which will confirm or rebutt an earlier arrival. Thanks for your advice. It is really a beautiful picture that you took (for us fossil people anyway). Regards, William Harris (talk) 06:36, 27 March 2021 (UTC)

Where was this video taken?
[edit]Hello. I've found that the geotag on Dragonflies - oze national park - 2021 8 2.ogg indicates it was taken in Nikko (map), while the description says "Dragonflies in Oze National Park". If the geotag is correct, it should be categorized in Nikko National Park instead of Oze National Park (map). Which is true, the geotag or your description? --トトト (talk) 10:29, 11 October 2021 (UTC)
- I'm a bit confused. That's the direct GPS listed on the English Wikipedia Oze National Park page. Is that page wrong? Cheers, Nesnad (talk) 13:02, 11 October 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, it's wrong. Then, I'll remove the geodata from your file. Thank you. --トトト (talk) 13:48, 11 October 2021 (UTC)
- Wouldn't it be better to just put the correct geodata on it? Nesnad (talk) 15:26, 11 October 2021 (UTC)
- Oze National Park covers 372 km² of area on the borders of 4 prefectures. If you don't figure out the exact location, shouldn't it be left as unknown location in Oze? If it were geotagged as 36.91572501731826,139.32054517713962 for example, somebody would certainly categorize it in August 2021 in Gunma prefecture even when it could have been in Tochigi prefecture or Niigata prefecture. So the most important is your memory of when and where you took that video. Either you entered Oze from Gunma or Fukushima or Tochigi, and saw that dragonfly on day 1 or 2 on the route to another prefecture, etc. --トトト (talk) 17:00, 11 October 2021 (UTC)
