File:State Seal of Arizona.svg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

The Bitter Years
[edit]Hi, Do you think this document from the MoMA could be uploaded to Commons? It is a list of public domain images displayed in The Bitter Years exhibition. I am trying to upload all these images to Commons, and it would be easier to check which are still missing if we could have the list here. Thanks for your time, Yann (talk) 21:35, 8 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Yann: Doesn't look to have a copyright notice. If distributed in 1962, it would have needed a renewal even if there was a copyright notice on a missing page from the scan. There isn't a whole lot copyrightable in the content in the first place either -- captions may be from the photographers. I would say it's fine. Carl Lindberg (talk) 23:15, 8 March 2024 (UTC)
Hi Carl, Could you please add your opinion in this DR? My question is precisely, does the free license of the source allows to make derivative works? Or are these characters protected in any case? Yann (talk) 11:49, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
Crown copyright question
[edit]Hi Carl. Would you mind taking a look at COM:VPC#Crown copyright and ID cards/passports? There's also some discussion about these files on the uploader's user talk page. I'm not well versed in Crown Copyright and how it's applied, but it does seem (at least to me) that it might not cover all of some of these files. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:57, 9 May 2024 (UTC)
