The Application of Thin-walled Steel Silo in Grain Storage

Safe Storage of Grain
In the process of grain storage by using thin-walled steel silos, as long as we manage properly, the quality of grain will not be affected.
Grain water content is a very important safety influencing factor. We should strictly control the moisture content after grains are stored in the grain silo, which generally does not exceed 13%. If the moisture content exceeds 13.5%, we should reduce temperature and precipitation through mechanical ventilation.
As to the heat insulation, although the external temperature is easy to be introduced because of the thin wall of the silo, the grain is a good insulator. The grain temperature changes only within 300 mm from the wall, and at the same time, it absorbs and dissipates heat quickly. On sunny days, the highest temperature usually occurs at 3 p.m., but it basically returns to its original state at 7 p.m. In general, we will install a temperature measuring device in the granary, so it can be very convenient to test in the control room. Once the grain temperature changes, it can be dealt with appropriately.
The steel silo roof is easily affected by the outside world. So the temperature difference is very large and the moisture condensation occurs frequently. Therefore, it is necessary to install the exhaust pipe and axial fan on the top of the silo to avoid this phenomenon. In addition, install a mechanical ventilation device, lay ventilation pipeline and use mobile wind machine at the bottom of the silo are also effective measures for safe grain storage. At present, we have developed a movable cooling and ventilation device, which can make grain stored at a low temperature of 5-15 ℃. The effect is very good. The storage temperature can be maintained between 5 ~15 ℃ according to actual needs, and the power consumption is 4~6 ℃/t. After mastering the grain ventilation technology, combined with some existing grain processing technologies such as cleaning, screening, grading, dust removal, and a set of mature and complete methods in management, such as automatic grain turnover system in the silo and other methods, the thin-walled steel silo can safely store grain.

In large and medium-sized cities, due to planning changes, grain silos in the city need to be demolished. Some concrete silos are destroyed and scrapped.
