This documentation is transcluded from Template:Rotate/doc.

This template tags images needing rotation to alert SteinsplitterBot to fix them.

The template automatically sets the following categories: Category:Images requiring rotation or Category:Images requiring rotation by bot

Usage

{{Rotate |1= }}

Images bearing this template are automatically added to Category:Images requiring rotation, a subcategory of Category:Images for cleanup. If the parameter |degree=0/90/180/270 is added, the image will automatically be sorted in Category:Images requiring rotation by bot, and SteinsplitterBot will rotate it. The parameters |nobot= and |reason= are only used by the bot. Do not add {{Rotate}} template at sound files, text documents or video files.

This could be useful if the thumbnail displays right but not the full resolution. Please do not use this if possible… MediaWiki will hopefully soon provide this automatically.
resetexif
reset
If your image showed up properly before the October 2011 MediaWiki-update, or the full resolution of an image looks fine (only the thumbnails are wrong), then you can use "resetexif" instead of a number to request the reset of the EXIF orientation data. However, it is advised to use the correct angle (RotateLink helps) instead.

TemplateData

TemplateData is a way to store information about template parameters (the description of those and of the whole template) for both humans and machines. It is used by VisualEditor and possibly other tools like Upload Wizard.

Existing template documentation
At Wikimedia Commons, it is recommended to use {{TemplateBox}} with either ‎useTemplateData=1 or ‎useTemplateData=only on the ‎/doc subpage and transcluding it with {{Documentation}} into the template. ‎<nowiki>-tags can be wrapped around the arguments, if required, to avoid templates being expanded.

Newly created template documentation and imports
Another option, especially for imported templates, or for users with JSON experience, is placing raw ‎<templatedata>-tags into the Wikitext of the template, as described in various Wikipediae.

Discussion
There is an ongoing discussion about that matter. Feel invited to comment if you are experienced in either way, your time permits and if you like to share your opinion or to make a suggestion.
