Summary
[edit]DescriptionAbbey Street entrance to the Docklands North Lotts area.jpg |
English: The Docklands North Lotts Area
Constructed on reclaimed land in the 1750s the North Lotts has long been associated with commerce and light industry. The open yards and cobbled street surface has changed little since the days when Matt Talbot worked as a messenger for the E & J Burke Ltd bottling and exporting company. Burkes had their Irish base of operations in a cluster of buildings that faced out onto the river Liffey. The buildings of 59 Abbey Street and 16 Bachelors Walk and the warehousing and distribution facilities in the North Lotts laneway between the two was the setting of his first job. And also the start of his alcoholism. |
